David Tennant Treat 4 Today for Monday 30th August 2010

The David Tennant Treat 4 Today is a lovely quote about David from Mariah Gale. It appeared on BirminghamPost.net on 30th July 2010 (see here to read the whole article).

Mariah played Ophelia in Hamlet with David Tennant plus she was the Princess Of France in Love's Labour's Lost and was currently starring as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet.

The relevant part of the article is:

"Although she had won critical acclaim for earlier roles, it was the role of Hamlet’s lover that catapulted her into the media spotlight in 2008. The lead was taken by David Tennant, fresh from Doctor Who super-stardom.

Mariah knew Tennant had already been cast and admits to being on edge when she first met the former Time Lord.

“It was scary, but it becomes not scary very quickly because you start working together intensely. I have so much respect for him as an actor. He was very lovely to me and very respectful. It’s nice when you appreciate what you can each bring to the show. It was really sad when we finished. The whole cast got on really well.”

They went to a Covent Garden restaurant for a late dinner on the last night.

“David was there with his girlfriend. They kind of snuck off at the end of the night and everyone was like ‘I didn’t get to say goodbye to David.’

And then the waitress came over and we asked for the bill and she said, ‘No, it’s been paid.’ He’d snuck off because he’d paid for everyone. It was lovely.”"

David Tennant Treat 4 Today for Sunday 29th August 2010

The David Tennant Treat 4 Today is a video which is just over a minute long and is David talking about Hamlet on the Andrew Marr Show on BBC1.

The programme was recorded on Sunday 8th June 2008 (it was broadcast life) and David appeared to promote the DVD of Takin' Over The Asylum but, as he had only started rehearsals on Hamlet a week earlier, not surprisingly Andrew asked him about the play and David used his line that it was "just another play."

Saturday 28 August 2010

David Tennant Treat 4 Today for Saturday 28th August 2010

The David Tennant Treat 4 Today is a radio interview when David rang into the Christian O'Connell show during his final stint working on Doctor Who.

The telephone call was just after David had hosted Comic Relief so they discuss that in their usual jokey light-hearted banter that they share as well as talking about Planet Of The Dead.

David has rung in to answer a question set by another 'celebrity' and then sets another question for the next 'celebrity'. He also suggests a question for David Cameron!

Friday 27 August 2010

David Tennant Treat 4 Today for Friday 27th August 2010

The David Tennant Treat 4 Today is a video interview from the Television Critics Association conference which David attended twice last year.

His first visit there was to promote Doctor Who for BBC America and then a few days later he returned for PBS to promote Masterpiece Contemporary.

This interview was conducted at the event and is interesting as, especially for the first question, the interviewer has not 'done her homework' but David neatly turns it around.

David Tennant Treat 4 Today for Tuesday 24th August 2010

The David Tennant Treat 4 Today is a long, light-hearted interview with David Tennant and Billie Piper which was published in SFX magazine in 2006.

Many thanks to @Raffica for suggesting this David Tennant Treat 4 Today.

The first part of the interview is reproduced below with the remainder on another day so keep checking back!

SO, WHAT'S IT LIKE WORKING TOGETHER?

DT: It's a nightmare. It's very, very difficult. Her flatulence is a big problem. [Laughs].

BP: [Laughs] It really is!

DT: We've had a laugh.

BP: Yeah, we have.

DT: We've had a really good laugh.

BP: Fortunately we get along. We all get along, and we need to, really, because it's long months and it's quite intense and we're shooting 13-hour days. You're thrown together all the time. I feel like I've made a friend for life.

DT: I hope so, yeah. It is weird, because we're the only two constants. Usually on a drama there's a bunch of you who go through the whole thing together, but... Noel and Camille come in and out.

BP: It's always nice to see them.

DT: It's always good to see them. But Billie's the only person I know I'm going to see every day.

BP: I see you more than I see my family, my boyfriend.

DT: That's all right.

BP: [Mockingly] And that's fine by me. I like it. I like it.

DT: That's fine. Just go with it. And luckily we get on and we've had a really good time.

THIS QUESTION'S FOR BILLIE. DID YOU LIKE PLAYING A POSH BAD GIRL IN NEW EARTH?

BP: Love it. Love the posh bad girl.

DT: You're going into Bad Girls to play a posh girl, aren't you?

BP: Absolutely!

DT: Actually that's not true.

BP: Do you think they'd want me? It was really fun. Actually, I was quite nervous because it was quite a departure from Rose and it was the first time in Doctor Who I'd played quite a lot of comedy, so I was quite scared. But also very excited. And I think it works OK. I like it. I think it's fun. I'd like to play many more... posh... bad girls.

DT: [Laughs]

DAVID, MY MUM AND MY BROTHER'S GIRLFRIEND, THINK YOU'RE REALLY SEXY...

DT: Oh, bless them.

BP: Women love you.

DT: It's all new to me, this.

BP: Women and men... remember the Pink Paper!

DT: Number one in the Pink Paper! Thank you very much. Brad Pitt, number two! David Beckham, number three!

HOW ARE YOU PLAYING TO THESE RADICALLY DIFFERENT DEMOGRAPHICS?

DT: With my knob out?

BP: [uncontrollable laughter]

DT: I don't know how to answer that. I'm just doing my job really. It's not something that even if you were aware of there was anything you could do about it.

BP: I think they were there with Casanova. That's when their obsession started.

DT: Mmmm.

BP: I know that, actually, because my mum's on the phone all the time and that definitely started when she saw you in Casanova. Now she's just like, 'Are you sat next to him?' [Laughs].

DT: Ahh, lovely Mandy.

BP: You don't think about it.

DT: How can you think about it? If you started playing to something like that, you'd immediately become unattractive to all these people who apparently find you attractive. It's a mystery to me, but I'm very, very proud of it.

DO YOU GET ANY ODD THINGS SENT TO YOU IN THE POST?

DT: Do you know, just the other day someone sent me a Tom Baker scarf. Full-length, knitted to perfection.

BP: Really?

DT: The colours looked right to me as well.

BP: Well, you would know.

DT: I would know. Yeah, that was quite weird.

BP: But nice.

DT: Lovely! That someone sat down and did that!

BP: Yeah I know, it's special.

DT: Every stitch.

BP: We were filming in Cardiff recently, and we got these little Dalek cakes from one of the residents in the street we were filming in. That was nice. Not full size, although I wish they had been because, frankly, they were amazing.

DT: Yeah. Mine was minty. Everyone was a slightly different flavour.

BP: Marshmallow.

HAVE YOU HAD LADIES' KNICKERS?

BP: I've had some ladies' knickers in the post.

DT: Have you?

BP: Yeah.

DT: I dream of ladies' knickers in the post.

MY MUM'S GOT SOME FOR YOU.

DT: Has she? Send them round. [Laughs]

BP: Mandy'll be knock-knock-knocking at that door to give them to you. It's fine… we love lowering the tone.

David Tennant Treat 4 Today for Sunday 22nd August 2010

On Friday Toby Hadoke played his Moths Ate My Doctor Who Scarf at the Edinburgh Fringe complete with David Tennant's voice in a couple of sections. (If you ever get a chance to see the show, I'd highly recommend it and also Toby's new show about the BBC.)

Subsequently one person asked whether David's voice was always played during that show. It is and the reason that came to happen is explained in the book about David Tennant's career in 2008 called David Tennant A Year In The Spotlight as follows:

On Friday 17th October there was a lovely story about David Tennant in an interview with Toby Hadoke in a Cambridgeshire newspaper to advertise his one man show Moths Ate My Doctor Who Scarf which was playing in the area that weekend. Toby Hadoke’s monologue is a touching but funny story about how the programme Doctor Who has affected his life in a positive way and about his relationship with his young son. In parts during the play David Tennant’s voice as the Doctor is played over the tannoy and Toby explained in this article how David Tennant came to hear about his show. “David Tennant’s such a nice man and he's such a good Doctor. I did a charity comedy night at the Edinburgh Festival to raise money for the hospice that cared for his mum - we didn't tell him about it, but he got wind of it and he tracked me down, which can't have been easy. From something I'd said on a podcast he worked out that I'd been in a play with someone he knew, so he phoned her and asked for my number, and then one Wednesday morning I got a phone call on my mobile and this voice said "My name's David Tennant", and he just wanted to thank us for what we'd done. I work with actors all the time, but being phoned by the current Doctor Who - who frankly had better things to be doing - was pretty amazing, and an incredibly nice thing for him to do. But that's David - nobody has a bad word to say about him.”

David Tennant Treat 4 Today for Wednesday 18th August 2010

The David Tennant Treat 4 Today is the really amazing Time Crash video. This was first broadcast on 16th November 2007 to raise money for Children In Need. It was written by Stephen Moffat and slotted in perfectly between the end of Series Three and the start of Voyage Of The Damned. It is a hilarious 8 minute episode which shows David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor meeting the Fifth Doctor played by Peter Davison. It was filmed all in one day (7th October) with everybody involved donating their time to raise money for Children In Need. Viewing figures peaked on Children In Need night between 8.15pm and 8.30pm when Time Crash aired with a total of 11.0 million viewers. The episode was therefore the most-viewed since the show's revival in 2005 for a few months. This rating was later beaten by Voyage of the Damned which received 13.3 million viewers. (Donations to the charity also peaked during Time Crash's airing. ) As well as some great writing the acting of the two actors ensured that this episode is one of the most loved by Doctor Who fans.

David Tennant Treat 4 Today for Saturday 14th August 2010

The David Tennant Treat 4 Today is the video of Patrick Stewart's lovely words about David Tennant from the Star Trek convention he attended last week.

The stats of this clip proves David's popularity and the power of Twitter. Most of Patrick's clips from that convention on YouTube have about 150 hits, David's has had 750!

(The clip was posted on Monday and when it was posted by DavidTennantOnTwitter.com it had only had 35 hits.)

Friday 13 August 2010

David Tennant Treat 4 Today for Friday 13th August 2010

You may remember that on Saturday 31st July the David Tennant Treat 4 Today was the first part of a video interview with him from last year where he spoke about introducing Masterpiece Contemporary.

Today the David Tennant Treat 4 Today is the second part of that interview with David.

Thursday 12 August 2010

David Tennant Treat 4 Today for Thursday 12th August 2010

With the Retreat news, we probably all need a good laugh so today's David Tennant Treat 4 Today is a hilarious video. This video was used once as a prize in a David Tennant Quiz and proved very popular so is worth watching again.

It shows David Tennant and Billie Piper being interviewed on the Welsh television station S4C. Unfortunately the producer chose the most bizarre voices for the dubbing into Welsh so that David and Billie sound like Chipmunks!

Enjoy....!

Wednesday 11 August 2010

David Tennant Treat 4 Today for Wednesday 11th August 2010

The David Tennant Treat 4 Today is another photo chosen by Candice Gleason.

David Tennant Treat 4 Today for Tuesday 10th August 2010

The David Tennant Treat 4 Today was deliberately delayed to wait and see which photos were being tweeted for #TennantTuesday.

This photo was taken during the time that David filmed Voyage Of The Damned in 2007.

Monday 9 August 2010

David Tennant Treat 4 Today for Monday 9th August 2010

The David Tennant Treat 4 Today is probably David Tennant's worst ever interview!

Fans were asked to email questions for David to be asked during an interview which was being conducted on behalf of MSN. Unfortunately the interviewer just read the questions and didn't really interact with David in any way.

However David is his usual charming self and expands on the questions - he must be an interviewers dream guest!

Sunday 8 August 2010

David Tennant Treat 4 Today for Sunday 8th August 2010

Saturday 7 August 2010

David Tennant Treat 4 Today for Saturday 7th August 2010

As one of the questions in the David Tennant Quiz today was about the Virgin Radio Christmas Pantomime when David played Buttons in their hilarious version of Cinderella, the David Tennant Treat 4 Today is the video of the pantomine.

The show was hosted by Christian O'Donnell and co-starred Brian Blessed and Thandie Newton (who David may be co-starring with in The Retreat movie in September).

David is wearing an 'interesting' costume (which he wore later that week to Matt Lucas' wedding).

There's also a chance to hear David sing a line in the song at the end too!

Click here to watch the video.

Friday 6 August 2010

David Tennant Treat For Friday 6th August 2010

Many thanks to Donnaj for suggesting today's David Tennant Treat 4 Today. It's a video interview of David Tennant from 2005 when he attended the Glastonbury Festival.

It was not too long after he had been announced as playing the Tenth Doctor and was before he had started filming so he could wander around without causing the stir that he does nowadays.

One funny part is where he catches a glimpse of himself in one of the monitors and realises quite how "festival" he looks!

Thursday 5 August 2010

David Tennant Treat 4 Today for Thursday 5th August 2010

Tuesday 3 August 2010

David Tennant Treat 4 Tuesday 4th August 2010

The David Tennant Treat 4 Today is a video which I don't remember seeing before. It's not often I get to type that which is why this video has been chosen.

It's not great quality but it shows David Tennant being presented with some original concept artwork of a sonic screwdriver. His reaction at both the drawing and the packaging is sweet to watch.

The video was posted on 3rd June 2008 which was when David was already in rehearsals for Hamlet. As it was filmed in his Doctor Who trailer it must have been filmed sometime before June.

Monday 2 August 2010

David Tennant Treat For Monday 2nd August 2010

The David Tennant Treat 4 Today for today is a photo of a young David Tennant!

It's from 2002 and was one of the photos he used eight years ago for publicity purposes.

He certainly doesn't look 31 in this picture!

Sunday 1 August 2010

David Tennant Treat 4 Today for Sunday 1st August 2010

The David Tennant Treat 4 Today is a video which was a prize in a David Tennant Quiz a few weeks ago and was very popular.

It was taken during David's time co-hosting the Absolute Radio Breakfast Show last year. David answered questions from children who were 12 and under. The first call was a boy called Nathan whose comments obviously touched David a lot so this is always worth a re-listen!

Click here to watch the video.
