The two part drama was an adaption of the Alan Furst's book The Spies Of Warsaw which was dramatised by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais.
Spies Of Warsaw covered the years 1933 to 1943 and was a portrait of subjugated people who tried to resist the suffocating inevitability of Hitler’s regime.
Spies Of Warsaw was screened on Wednesdays 9th and 16th January 2013 in the UK on BBC Four and in the US on 3rd and 10th April 2013. In Poland it started being aired on Friday 11th January (but was dubbed into Polish and was in 4 parts over consecutive weeks).
Filming took place in Poland (Warsaw, Chabówka and Krakow) although the cast read-through was in London.
